Roaming Rotations For Beginners In Season 40
Mobile Legends is a game that is quite popular worldwide. The largest player base is in Southeast Asia. In this game, there are various roles that are important for matches. One role that is often overlooked is the roamer. Yet the roamer plays a role that is just as important as the others.

Understanding
the roamer’s role
Roamers play a
crucial role in matches. They are responsible for establishing vision and map
control (warding), rotating across all lanes, initiating team fights, and
maintaining team balance. So the roamer role is indeed vital, whether using a
tank or support hero. A good roamer is one who can track enemy movements,
monitor key lanes, and help protect the weaker teammates.
Choosing the
right hero for a beginner roamer
If you’re a
beginner in this game, especially if you’re interested in the roamer role, the
first thing you need to understand is that the roamer’s role isn’t about
getting lots of kills. For beginners, it’s best to choose heroes with simple
mechanics but who remain useful to the team in various situations. Heroes that
are fairly easy to play include Rafaela, Angela, and Floryn; these support
heroes are fairly straightforward to understand in terms of skill usage. For
tank heroes, you can use Hylos or Belerick; they’re fairly easy to use and
strong enough to act as a frontline tank during battles with the enemy.
The proper
way to rotate as a roamer.
In this game,
the key to a roamer’s success is to have as significant an impact on the team
as possible from the early game. It’s not just about moving around; proper
rotation involves knowing when to assist the cores, when to clear the map, and
recognising the right moment for a crucial team fight. Without a good
understanding of rotations, a roamer can lose their way and actually become the
turning point of defeat in the game.
Here are the
things a beginner roamer needs to do.
Early game
(minutes 0–2)
- - Assist the
jungler with the first buff, then head to the mid lane and help poke the enemy
mid laner.
- - Check the
enemy’s buffs or the River area and secure the camp for your own team’s
jungler.
- - Help
secure the first Turtle and focus on assisting the jungler in getting the first
Turtle by providing cover and opening up the map.
Mid-game
(minutes 2–8)
- - Go to the
gold lane and help the marksman gain an advantage over the enemy, but don’t
just stay in the gold lane.
- - Map the
area and zone the enemy. Check all accessible bushes and ensure no enemies are
lurking.
Late-game
(minute 8 onwards)
- - Protect
the core (Marksman/Mage). If possible, always stay close to the Mage so they
aren’t easily picked off by the enemy.
- - If using a
tank initiator hero (e.g. Tigreal, Atlas, Khufra), start the fight by stunning
the enemy. If using a support hero (e.g. Angela, Estes, Rafaela, Floryn), focus
on healing and providing cover for the team from the back.
Essential item rotations for roamers

Choosing the right items for a roamer is crucial for the team’s
victory. You can’t just pick items at random; you must be able to counter the
items used by the enemy. Aside from the Courage Mask, other items such as Athena’s Shield or Dominance Ice are excellent choices for boosting durability
and crowd control capabilities. You must also purchase items that suit the
team’s needs and are appropriate for the situation and the enemy heroes. Other
essential items required by support heroes include Fleeting Time or the Flask
of the Oasis. Some support heroes may also occasionally require the Glowing
Wand.
Now that you understand the importance of effective rotations and
item selection in Mobile Legends, it’s time to see how all of this is applied
directly in-game. In the following video, I’ll be playing the role of a roamer,
focusing on effective rotations and assisting the core and jungler. From this,
you’ll be able to understand how small decisions during rotations can impact
the team’s victory.
